I don't know what the hell is wrong with these aunties/singlish-spoken people.
Story goes like this:
I order PLUM juice... -
ME: " Aunty, 1 PLUM (PL-AAMM) juice. "
Aunty: "Ok."
* The next thing you see its a yellow colored drink ( WTF??!! Lime juice?!) in front of you.
FOR GOODNESS SAKE, THIS DID NOT HAPPENED JUST ONCE!
It's everywhere! When I say PLUM, with the most american/brit accent I could fake, but no....
I get LIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously, in the singlish dictionary.
Pronounciation is as follows:
LIME = (singlish) LUM [laaam]
PLUM = (singlish) PUM [paaaaam]
How English is meant to sound like:
LIME = (proper English) LIME [lymmme] / [laai-mmmmm]
PLUM = (proper English) PLUM [puh-lummm] / [pl-ammm]
I do not wish to be a snob (considering I am singaporean), but please!!! Plum juice is one of my favourite juice and bloody hell! How can LIME juice and PLUM juice stand anywhere close!!!!!!!
Singapore, we really need to get rid of Singlish! It's bloody annoying!!!!!!!!!
